Artist Mary Luke finds beauty in the strangest places. She loves old farm buildings for their textures, rough stones and decaying wood and she is fascinated with the unique textures and stains of rusting metal, along with the warmth of a sunset through the pines or over water.
A graduate of high school in Pennsylvania, Mary is for the most part a self-taught artist who received encouragement from her mother, also in artists workshops, and by her affiliation with many local organizations that gave her the opportunity for interaction with many local, regional and nationally known artists.
She has become a well known artist in the Mooresville area and an active member and past officer of Mooresville Arts. She has been a member of the Norwin Art League in PA for over 40 years, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina.
